Branko Rusmir was born in Antunovac, place near Pakrac (Croatia). On the hillsides of Psunj his first visions of that picturesque landscape originated in his imagination, and they are still present. Following his ciriculuum vitae to Banja Luka, Travnik, Knezevo and finally Kotor Varos, Rusmir is finding similar, but still different Krajina’s landscapes, and of course, urban stimuluses with new inner inspiration. Year in year out he paints freely and disorderly. These new motives and themes are pulling him more and more to inner expressive motion and that’s why he’s finding his more convenient vocation of artistic expression in brand new way of painting, with painting – knife. Rusmir is using expertly expressive motion with painting – knife and in that way he expresses and defines his inner creative stimulus. He knows very simply and with great ease how to use the base of material so that he can, with his new technique, accomplish miraculous play of light with worm and cold colors.
